The Foursquare Denomination
The Foursquare Church was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1923 by Rev. Aimee Semple McPherson, one of the 20th century's most dynamic, biblically-grounded evangelists and missionaries. The Foursquare movement--born in revival and constant to this hour in its passion to reach the lost, broken, and needy with the Gospel of Jesus Christ--proclaims the message of Holy Spirit-filled renewal in the manner and values of New Testament apostolic mission and vision. We avoid extremes of fanaticism and materialism, while worshipping and ministering in the warmth and freedom of God's presence among us. The Foursquare Movement has grown from one group of believers to more than 59,000 churches and meeting places throughout the world in 144 countries and U.S. territories, with more than 8 million members and adherents.
